Ashampoo Presentations is intended for creation slide presentations. Just in this case, a comparison with the leading application of this type, Microsoft PowerPoint, is almost compulsory. Its interface is quite similar to those of PowerPoint versions prior to 2007 because it does not use ribbons. Moreover, most features are accessed quite the same way, because the toolbars and menus are similar.
Ashampoo Presentations supports roughly the same features available in PowerPoint. It can create beautiful slides and comes with multiple designs and layouts. A lateral panel can help you manage slides and create an outline. It also supports various transition effects between slides. Multiple object types can be embedded in the presentations, including text, pictures, movies, sounds and OLE objects. Moreover, these objects can be easily animated with standard effects.
The program uses its own file format. However, it can also export or import other types. Although it supports PPT and POT files, it is not compatible with the files generated by the latest PowerPoint versions (PPTX). As an extra feature, it can easily export contents as PDF documents.
All in all, Ashampoo Presentations is a great application. The same way PowerPoint is a part of Microsoft Office, this program is also available in Ashampoo Office, a suite comprising other tools intended for office work. Although its presentations are definitely not as sophisticated as those you can create with PowerPoint, this program is an absolute alternative to it because of its much lower cost.
